Out of touch - what case?

Hi all,

It's been a good few years since I kept up to date on components and cases are certainly something I've not paid attention to. As a result I have no idea what the go-to options are to even begin to compare!

I'm looking to do a mid-range (r5 3600 / rx 5700) air-cooled build and don't know what to house it in. I'm looking for something nice and quiet that is not flashy - I don't really want RGB anything, windows etc though I could live with them if I must for a decent case. There seem to be some 'noise' oriented cases around, though I've no idea how well that works out if the thermals are worse, resulting in higher fan speeds. If they do result in a nice quiet PC though then I'm happy with that! Given my build is not particularly high-end I'd rather not splash lots on a case though there is no actual budget limit if something can be well justified.

Any thoughts welcome as I don't even know where to start looking nowadays!

Cheers,
Dave

wow looks awesome

is it 2x 140mm fans on the fromt or 3x120 mm ?
bought a load of 120mm fans for my current case, but i might replace it..

Ironically noise oriented cases are louder than airflow cases as they need higher fan speeds to reach the same temperatures.

I'd pick one of these mesh fronted cases. Unfortunately I don't think phanteks do cases w/o side windows nowadays but they are quite dark.

Thanks for this! Basically the three cases I've narrowed my next build to. I think I'm leaning more towards the Fractal or P300A as the cable management is meant to be better in the fractal, on top of the bottom filter you can take out from the front and it's full length which seems super useful. The P400 seems to have quite a big gap between the front of the case and the motherboard.

Either way all cases look much better to build in compared to my Lancool K62, replaced the lower front fan and it was a nightmare!! Ah decisions!
