Been a while since I got a graphics card. Last one I had was a nvidia 280 which was top spec at the time.

Could you give me an idea on what compares to that card now so I can get an understanding of performance? Not which is the top spec now, just if I were upgrading from that, what would be the next step up.

And also what are the cheap graphics cards like? I mainly only use photoshop now but do use two monitors (dvi).

Just got an old 7800 in there at the moment I think. (definitely 7000 series nvidia).

Thanks for your time

depends completely on budget! top spec is 780/titan (ridiculously expensive) however 7950 is incredible value for money at the moment (especially on MM)

If you are planning to stick with Nvidia you could get a GTX760. Though for two monitor use I found Photoshop worked better on my HD 7950 3GB than it did on my GTX680 2GB.

I was using 2560x1600 and working with 4096x4094 PSD files with scores of layers.

Appreciate the replies but I'm not looking for top spec. I'm using the older style card nvidia. The ones before the 8800gts.

So need something lower down the pecking order.

A good mid level card is the 7850, but because the 7870 LE is so cheap (£155), it's currently the best in that price range.
