I've not kept up with whats out but I have an AMD Ryzen 9 5900x on an X570 platform and wondering if there is any use in upgrading or just wait a few years?

What do you use the PC for?

If gaming, what kind of games & resolution/refresh?

For casual gaming and a decent chunk of productivity, the 5900X is still a great CPU, so it depends on your answers to the above ^^.
Gaming at 1440p 120hz, 3d printing and cad design, video editing

Shocked you say that from a CPU no that old. I went from an intel 6700k to a 7800x3d and that was a worthwhile upgrade at 4.5x faster. 5900x is that even twice as fast upgrade for him?
didn't even realize it was that old to be fair, was a beast when i bought it new cpu had only just come out

Are these regularly hammering your CPU, or not really?

How are you doing with hitting the 120 Hz?

With that usage, the 7800X3D could help you push up the minimums for 1440p, but the downside is that the 7800X3D is actually slower in full multithreaded load than the 5900X.
honestly not really the video rendering is probably the most intensive but I can do 4k rendering without any issues, a little more speed on the renders would be nice but ultimately just a nice to have and not a need.

Gaming is as far as I can tell pretty solid, hitting close to 120fps on most titles I play though some newer games have been hovering around the 90s I don't know how much of that is down to newer titles less optimized and drivers not being mature though
