Outdoor patio heater gas vs electric

If you must have one I'd go with a wall mounted electric infrared unit nicer to look at not effected by wind and they never run out of fuel.
 
well, i guess sometimes our creature comforts are not that eco friendly

but back on topic, electric is better than gas?
 
Have a look at the bio ethanol heaters as another option

We have one, one extra benefit is that you would typically buy portable, and they can be used in doors, such as if you lost heating from some reason

They are not "cheap" to run but if they are for a small extra amount of heat then they are nice, a table top one will throw out surprising amounts of heat and they are a real naked flame so look far better than either other option

Gas is expensive to run and incredibly energy in efficient something like 95% of the heat goes straight up! Electric IR heats surfaces so is much less wasteful still pretty terrible but better.

Some sort of fire is much better from an environmental point of view provided the fuel is sourced sustainably!

Personally I've always thought if it is too cold to be outside move inside trying to heat up the world is a massive waste of resource!
