Outdoor WC, does anyone do it?

Don't know whether it helps but I ran an external EK XTX 360 rad in my previous build, together with an internal XSPC EX240 to cool 3770K, 7970 lightning * 2.

Cooled with GT1850 @50% and CPU and 7970 lightning temp max @60C

Haha nice one Andy, mind if you ask what temps you are getting with your Poseidon? I've just put one under water myself

Its on 33oC atm 23oC room temp 17oC outside but i am folding@home on the gpu 24/7, it goes down to low 20s most of the night . cpu is on a corsair H75 but gona put that in the loop soon, this is with just 1 crap case fan on the 240 rad so hope to improve that but trying to make it silent.

What are you getting?

I'm cooling an AMD 8350 as well, not overclocked yet as quite enjoying having low temps for a bit lol.

Last idle test I got

CPU GPU RES GPU Ambient
28 24 20.8 26 20.9

and while Folding

CPU GPU RES GPU FAN Ambient
46 46 34.5 3 3 23.8

I use a 240mm Rad after CPU and a 140mm after the GPU. Looks like your external radiator really makes a difference then, especially at night.

Yes i think so and am happy with the results so far, not everybody can do external , i mean, i cant move it , not that i want to but if your near an outside wall or window its worth thinking about, especially north facing so you dont get the sun on it.
Also no matter how good the rads and fans you got your not going to get colder then ambient were as i hope i can :)

Borrowing ambient temps from elsewhere is clearly the way forward lol. You could maybe install a koolance shut off valve system so you could detatch the external rad if you needed to.
