I'm running Win 7 Home Premium with all security patches.

I'm using Windows Firewall with Windows 10 Firewall Control program controlling it.

Since I installed NordVPN, outgoing UDP is being blocked.

The firewall log shows this entry, repeatedly:

|Blocked|IPv4 UDP 192.168.1.1:53(51267)|Host Process for Windows Services|WindowsFirewall: OpenVPN Outgoing|C:\windows\system32\svchost.exe

The number in brackets varies.

svchost is allowed through the firewall.

It's causing problems with accessing some websites. Slow connection in most cases, but I get patches where no websites can be accessed (might be due to something else) and some functionality is lost completely, e.g. I can't download audiobooks from the library.

I know next to nothing about networking and have no idea what to do to fix this.

Port 53 is DNS related (which could explain your problems).

Doesn't NordVPN provide support to their subscribers?

There do seem to be an increasing number of 'I decided that a VPN would be a good idea and now something is broken' threads.

NordVPN will be my next port of call if these forums don't result in an answer, but it seems their support is what is to be expected from a £3 a month service.

The issue might not be the VPN as such, since the firewall is doing the blocking (even though it's set to allow svchost without any restrictions) and I don't think that's down to the VPN.
