Outlast OMG !!!!

yea, i looked at a few more vids on youtube and started getting very annoyed with it.

the game has one massive fault and it's staring you in the eyes  why is he STILL unarmed when he knows that Psychos are after him, because there's loads of stuff around that he could use as a weapon, why doesn't the IDIOT pick up a weapon

i then get annoyed and immediately think, this game is ****

I enjoyed the game, never found it to be that scary.

If you want a true game to scare you, go old school and play amnesia :D

no, any game like this wont work for me without me being armed in some way, because finding a length of pipe or wood is the 1st thing i'd do

something followed me whilst i was in the Black Forest in Germany when i was only 16  it's the oddest experience i've ever had, i knew exactly where it was and how far away, my friend noticed it too. the first thing i did was to pick up a 5ft length of branch, whatever it was followed us for about 3 miles, there was no way of seeing it because the trees around you are so tightly packed.

i love the idea of a really brilliant horror but it's so hard to get right in a game

The whole idea is to feel vulnerable.
yes but it's unrealistic and daft.........the way around it is:-

you're only aloud to hit him once in an area whilst escaping, this slows him down for 6 seconds allowing you to escape........but if you dont escape then yes you die.

at the final level there's a proper fight just like any other game, you'll still be scared but at least it's more realistic, but to have no weapon at all is daft.

the problem with this game is ``Hostel guy``, cut your fingers off so it'll be damned hard to pick up a weapon wont it :D

by any one area, i mean if you manage to enter an air duct etc and he stops chasing you, the game then regards the next location as a new area where you can hit him again, but only the once !

whatever the case, give me DOOM 2 any day of the week

Doesn't that ruin the experience? Why play a horror game if you don't want to be scared.

I remember when Doom 3 came out and people wanted a mod to tape the flashlight to your gun. I never used it as going around with the flashlight out and having to switch to your gun when something burst out of an air-duct trying to murder you was great fun and added to the atmosphere.

yes DOOM 3 was quite scary and DOOM 2016 could've been the same..........because these sudden scares are added to the game as you travel from Arena to Arena, but no, we got a game with no atmosphere at all.

DOOM 3 for its time was a much better game, when you consider how long ago it was, the Hell knights were much scarier too esp before you go through the Portal into Hell.

Yup same here. Played a few hours of it. Terrifying. Can't quite physc myself up to go back to it...

yes me too, it's hard to describe what it is, but it's too intensive and heavy going when you're tired after work

it's not so much scary..... it's an unpleasant gaming experience, it's like going to the dentist

yea that's scary, that should have been what Alma was like in FEAR.....it would be easy to do as well, because FEAR had scripted events where Alma appeared.

so on every level you could have a 15 minute creepy event like that, but FEAR's potential for pure horror was not realised by Monolith......they portrayed Alma incorrectly, because she is more like the girl from Exorcist just far worst :eek:

so you can see that there's potential for someone to build a really brilliant horror shooter.............if only someone had the guts to do it.
