“In the remote mountains of Colorado, horrors wait inside Mount Massive Asylum . A long-abandoned home for the mentally ill, recently re-opened by the “research and charity” branch of the transnational Murkoff Corporation, has been operating in strict secrecy… until now.

“Acting on a tip from an inside source, independent journalist Miles Upshur breaks into the facility, and what he discovers walks a terrifying line being science and religion, nature and something else entirely. Once inside, his only hope of escape lies with the terrible truth at the heart of Mount Massive.”

Sounds interesting, and there’s a teaser trailer below for it which gives you a better idea.

“There are already a lot of great games out there about terrifying monsters that eat brains; we want Outlast’s to be scary because you’ll know the enemies you face still have them,” said Philippe Morin, co-founder of Red Barrels.

“Our team has a lot of previous experience creating big, blockbuster games,” added co-founder David Chateauneuf. “We’re all really excited to see what kind of fear-based emotional rollercoaster we can build on our own!”

I love horror movies, games and stories, but this game was just way too much with surround sound and all the lights low.
Seriously I had to stop and start so many times and at one point played with the light on and music in the background.
Genuine pants stainer game :(
 
I didn't find Amnesia scary at all, if anything it gave me seriously bad motion sickness! :(

Ha, I can relate to that. Headphones and dark room was just too much for me. Love the game, but haven't gotten very far because I keep having to put it down and play something else!

For that reason, I think I'll avoid this new release!
 
This popped up on my Steam page today and was all ready to pre-order it until I watched the video.

I just can't play these sort of games without turning into a gibbering wreck. I'm ok if I have a gun or a weapon, but the sneaking about and running away is just too much for me.

I'm such a girl when it comes to games like this :o

I'm totally the same. I'm a huge horror film fan, but stuff like this really gives me the shivers. Sometimes even when I have a gun!
