outllok and archive folders

my outlook folder is nearly 3 gigs so i tried archiving a bunch of stuff to cut it down. The archive shows i moved 1 gig of stuff and yet the main pst file is still 3 gigs. Wot gives?

You have to compact the PST file, under advanced options.

thanks..crazy system though...why dont they just use separate folders like outlook express

"Crazy"?? It's quite normal with database files.

crazy that they make u compact after archiving to get the space back
