hi guys,

I have a DC that I had to rebuild last week after a OS failure. All seems well apart from some of my users are reporting that they are unable to access the domain ldap address book in outlook.

I've narrowed the problem down the server I rebuilt because if i change the server name in outlook's address book settings to my other DC (called '01') the ldap address book works ok.

It's almost as if I haven't allowed remote ldap query to be processed by my rebuilt dc (called '02').

Anyone got any ideas as to what might be causing the issue? Or anyway of narrowing it down further?

Thanks in advance,

Tris

Is your newly rebuild DC and Global catalogue server? (GC).

Sorry for the late reply.

Been mad busy!

This is still an issue which I've picked back up today. The DC in question, was a GC server before it was rebuilt.

I've read the link you suggested but it seems to refer to 2000 and 2003 servers.

Also, there no mention of LDAP, so I'm unsure what effect holding the GC will do?

Can you explain further please?

Making it a Global Catalog server will cause it to host partial records for objects contained on other DC's.

Normally used to help speed up LDAP queries.

Not sure but...

Are there any LDAP objects on the new DC? User accounts?

Maybe there is nothing there to make an address book from? In which case making is a GC will cause a partial replication of the other server which does in fact work.
