hello,

First off I'm new to this forum so hello to all !!!!

I have installed vista and office 2007 on me laptop. (oohh, new and shiny!! :p )

I use me laptop at work which has a exchange 2003 mail sever.

I'm unable to connect to the mail server and check name comes back as "unable to connect to the exchange server" even though i know that all details are right. ( i had the guy who installed the network try it as well but no fix!)

has anyone else had this problem?? i can't be the only one in the world that cant get exchange 2003 with outlook 2007 to see each other..........

has anyone got any ideas that i can try???

any help welcome.

thanks in advance.

Blastman

thanks for the reply,

yes i can ping the name so dns all ok.

I have also tried both name and ip address in outlook. but still unable to reslove the name of the mail account. :(

Hi,

Had the exact same problem. When you get the login prompt, enter your ad account as user@domain

Worked for me!

hay,

thanks for the reply,

have tried that with both domain\user name and user name@domain but no fix.

i keep getting the password network user name box up. if i enter my details it just comes up again 1/2 sec later.

i tried opening a hotmail account and using those details so i can get in to outlook. but this hasn't really helped as you can't make changes to exchange accounts while outlook is running.

:( :( :( :( :(

its almost as though i can't have the right local sercrity polices as when i try it can't verfiy the name of account or mail server and keeps poping up the network logon/password box.

In the mail server make sure "https://" is not input. Just the name of the server mailhost.domain.com

Your server admin needs to install a patch on exchange 2003 to allow vista access, something to do with xml from memory.

really, a patch for the exchange server.

you don't happen to know the name do you??

I seem to remember some-one else having this problem after installing outlook 2007. They where using xp 64.

But i can't for the life of me remember what it was that i did to allow them access.

yeah OWA is fine.

I'm able to access my email there.

i'll take a look at that link now and let you know.

cheers

Apperty there are some changes that need to be made to the exchange server but a work-a-round it about.
