My missus has a new laptop with Windows 7 on it (and Outlook 2007).

I exported a .PST file from her old Vista laptop (Outlook 2007 also) to my network drive.

Upon importing on the new machine it has only imported 5 months of sent items, nothing in the inbox or draft at all.

The PST file is 50 mb in size and the sent items comprises of barely 200 emails at around 20k a mail......do the math.

I have backed up Outlook a million and one times before and never had any issues until now.....I'm baffled.

The old laptop has been wiped by the way :(

Any suggestions?

Ta :)

this has happened when the pst file is extremely large - two files are created - are you sure the export did not export two .psts?

edit: its also very likely you did not highlight the entire "personal folders" option when exporting and did not click "include all sub folders"

well the thing is that there is only one pst file and that is 50mb so there is nothing to work with.

it rather seems as though you have not backed up the entire file im afraid.

i suggest getting some backup software and running it on the vista hard drive - even if you have formatted you can still probably get lots of data back :)

its also not impossible that some of the more recent mails may be on her web based mail for the outlook accounts - unless you have "delete mails after download" selected in the mail accounts > advanced area of outlook.
