The company I work for uses exchange, allowing me to connect Outlook 2010 at home to it. This has been working great for weeks, but I read they did modifications to the system and now my outlook exchange proxy settings keep changing.

For example, the url used to me

owa.companyname.co.uk

With proxy authentication settings as Basic.

But after I used it, it will change to

oa.companyname.co.uk

With authentication of NTLM.

While these settings are fine for the work pc's it won't work at home. I have to go into the account settings and change it back every single time. How can I make the settings stick?

Using the new settings doesn't work for me.

They probably need to update their internet based DNS info. Inside the company the internal DNS server will route oa.companyname.co.uk to your Exchange server but outside the company your ISP doesn't have an entry for oa.companyname.co.uk so can't route it.

Outlook will also check for Autodiscover info, here it is seeing the change and updating your Outlook config as it should.

Your IT department need to get a new subdomain setup with your domain holder for oa. and use the same IP address as the owa. that should then route correctly.
