OK, a tricky one this and I am not sure which forum to post it in. It concerns Outlook 2010 on a Windows 7 guest in Parallels running on an OS X host.

Windows 7 installed just fine on my trial of Parallels. Office 2010 also installed without a hitch. However, I simply cannot connect to my company Exchange server with Outlook 2010. My guest's network and Internet connections are fine as I can browse websites and the company server is fine as I can access OWA and other pages from the guest.

I usually connect via Outlook Anywhere but no dice. I then tried a VPN connection within the guest, still no dice. After a while I noticed the VPN was connected, but I had no access to the resources at all.

I am 100% certain this is a Parallels issue [VPN, Exchange etc works fine from my Windows PC]. Is there something I should know about Parallels on OS X, is there any specific settings I need to change to enable VPN connections from within the guest? I have tried looking at the Parallels KB but they never seem to address the problem I am having.

Any thoughts, gentlemen?

[If this is better off in the Windows forum I apologise, but I feel this is an OSX/Parallels issue, not a guest issue with Windows].

Have you got a default gateway assigned for the guest Windows 7 LAN connection? I've had problems before with Outlook 2010 on a bare metal W7 box that just wouldn't connect even though it seemed to be connected fine in general (web access)

As soon as I explicitly entered the default gateway for the network adapter it worked fine.

Worth a look.

I fixed the problem :D

And I am not sure how. I reinstalled Windows 7 in Parallels, doing it manually as I didn't like how Parallels set it up in the "one click" mode.

Setup a VPN, which magically worked, connected to my company server and whatnot. Outlook over HTTP also working as it should.

No idea what happened last night, all I can assume is Parallel's settings for the automatic install ballsed something up, or Office installed incorrectly. *shrug*
