Outlook 2010 keeps asking for my Yahoo! password

Hi,

I have been using Outlook 2010 for ages on my laptop, and when I built my new PC (couple of months ago) I started using it on that too, initially when I started using it on the PC it was working fine, and so was the laptop

Recently, maybe 3 / 4 days ago, on both systems, it has started asking me for my yahoo password all the time. It says:

"Enter your user name and password for the following server

Server: pop.mail.yahoo.co.uk

User name: *my username*

Password: *It already has my password there, asterisk'd out*

Save this password in your password list (Check box)"

I have the option of 'OK' or 'Cancel'

If I choose OK it will go away, then after a little while (I don't think it is next time I have it scheduled to check for mail, as I have that as one minute, it doesn't seem to happen that often, but it definitely happens quite a few times in the space of an hour), it will come back and ask me again.

It gets really annoying so I have to just close outlook, and open it when I want to check my mail, which is not what I want to do, I want to leave it running like I used to be able to

I have tried deleting the yahoo account from outlook on my PC, and setting it up again, but it still happens

I also have a hotmail account configured with outlook, that always has been, and still is working fine

Regardless of whether I save the password in my password list, or click cancel, or simply click ok, the message keeps coming back

Any ideas??

:)

Extra question:

Is it possible to have Outlook delete the messages from my Yahoo account? What I mean is, I very rarely use my laptop, so I check and delete my emails from Outlook on my PC, then if I ever go to use it on my laptop, it brings me all these 'unread' messages that I have already read on my PC.

Hope you can help :)

I have the same problem connecting to an Exchange server. I remember reading abut this being a common problem with Ouitlook 2010, so when I find the info, I'll post it here.

From what OP says Im guessing despite the box popping up his pass is actualy already in the box. That KB seems to be if it's not actually remembering the pass.

I think using IMAP is what you want instead of POP3 to achieve this. I forget if IMAP is available on a normal free yahoo email account, worth a google :)

Have you got your yahoo account on any other devices?

It is linked to my blackberry 9900 (had this a few months), but I dont 'think' this problem is related, although it may be, I think I've had my blackberry linked to my email before this issue began

Yes, my pop-up box already contains my password

Thanks, I am still learning this sort of stuff at college, so I knew it was something to do with this. I will have a google

Sounds odd but this problem seems to have stopped

Maybe it was a problem at Yahoo's end?

When I deleted my email account from outlook the first time when I was trying to sort it out, I then added it again and it came up as my email address @yahoo.co.uk (1)

So I have all the email I had before, then all my emails now come to this (1) account in outlook

Is there anyway I can link my email with the first one again so that I can have all my emails in one place?

The picture below will explain it better:

All my emails are now coming to the bottom one, and I want them to all go back to the top one like they used to, so all my previous emails and new emails are in one place

Is there a way to do that?

Hope you can help and thanks in advance, :)
