Hiya Folks.

Had an mare of a day yesterday.

Outlook 2010 wouldnt boot up. would get halfway through booting up then ask for password and sit at not responding. Restored a backup No changed.

Ok turns out my server people had changed server's and changed my email passwords. Royally confusing outlook. So after resetting passwords it still didnt work. Turns out it didn't like the uppercase in my email address.

Looks like there has also been a change from pop3 to imap ( not sure I'm happy about that yet)

So onto the main prob I have now.

I now have an old email PST file and a new pst file and 2 profiles on outlook.

I dont want to risk losing important emails. How do I merge the 2 Pst files. as outlook wont let me copy emails from 1 inbox to the other.

Not a happy camper I now have a very confusing and untidy outlook 2010 with the calender on the wrong profile.

Open the PST file and copy them into your new profile would be the easiest. You can open the PST file as almost an extra folder so you can just drag and drop the mail in (same with folders if you organise your mail).

M.

For clarification: Open your new mail account in Outlook then open the old PST file in Outlook.

Thanks.

I have managed to copy across all my emails YAY.

However upon dialing into the server its deleted them all whilst synchronizing. AArrgh

Ok going to have to start over again.

Ok so I have removed all outlook accounts and all data files aprt from the default outlook.pst.

Not I have all the 5 other .pst saved so once i set up new accounts I can point them to the correct data files.

However I can only point them to a data file IF I use pop3 accounts. ( not a problem)

However when I do that itll download new emails, But I can't find them in the inbox.

Whats the best way to set outlook up

Ok I have all the emails back. Yet another restore.

As they are IMAP and my webserver has changed servers then when it next logs in it will syncronize and delete all the emails from outlook.

Anyone know how to stop it. Or is it a case of archiving what i have now. And living with it.

I hope they dont change servers again. as this has been a right royal cockup
