Outlook (2209) Unwanted icons

Greetings All,

Is anyone in the know as to the process required to remove this excrescence. I have scoured the settings to no avail. I believe the change happened recently. I do not wish to have screen space taken up by buttons etc I will never use. Is it possible? Thank you

You mean the buttons on the left? They've been moved there due to getting in line with how the web based apps are laid out, the change came in around 6 months ago depending on which release of 365 you run.

Yes those are the ones. So they are not removable?

Not currently, they may add a option later to move them back to the bottom of Outlook but I doubt it.
