outlook backup program

need to backup my accounts in outlook 2007
what programs are available?

You can do it within Outlook.

File > Import and Export > Export to a file > Personal Folder File (.pst)

Well, thats really backing up the emails, not the accounts. IIRC there is no actual way withing Outlook to backup the account settings. I *think* its a registry key backup

already done this for emails, its accounts i want to sort, but cheers anyway.

mr.sly any ideas what it is in the registry?

Open your registry editor and navigate to the following key:

HKEY_USERS\S-1-5-21-1343024091-507921405-725345543-1003\Software\Microsoft\Windows NT\CurrentVersion\Windows Messaging Subsystem\Profiles\Outlook

Your keys after HKEY_USERS might be different (as in the number) but the rest of the location is the same.

Export the entire Outlook key to a file. You've now backed up your email accounts. To restore the backup to another computer, simply import the backup into the new computer's registry. You may need to delete the Outlook key off the new computer first.

You can use MS's own Outlook Backup tool!... Just search for it on the Office Updates website!...

Does all the donkey work for you!.. no need to mess about in the registry!

yeah we used that tool at my work a year ago, you can set it so it backs-up when you close outlook, we got it to back-up to a server so all our outlook databases were backed up in one place.

I have used this tool before and it so simple. Does all the leg work.

If all you want to do is backup your emails, contacts, calendar etc then Microsoft's Personal Folder Backup addin will do (more info and download link here: http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HA100758021033.aspx?pid=CH100788841033)

But if you want to backup your account settings, rules, blocked senders signatures as well then I would recommend a free tool called Amic Email Backup.

UPDATE: Discovered Amic doesn't support Outlook 2007- Sorry!
