Hello all,

I need some advice, I want to run Windows 7 on my main day-to-day machine but I have a problem, I've been using Outlook Express as my main POP3 email client for many many years and have about 400MB of .dbx files with tons of useful data, I'm hoping there is a way for me to port the old email data into a new snazzy POP3 email program that runs nice in Windows 7.

Any suggestions please?

Vista replaced outlook express with windows mail. I haven't got a windows 7 machine to hand but i'd expect the windows 7 client can import your dbx files.

Thanks for reply, I did see this Windows Mail on a friends Vista machine but there is no sniff of it on the Windows 7 BETA, I guess I should get the newer RC release installed and see if there is anything there?

I think they ditched Windows Mail in Win7.

Not sure what it's been replaced with directly though. Microsoft seem to want you to go onto Windows Live instead.

I would use the Windows Live Mail app that is part of the live suite of utilities... Works better than Express or Mail..

Microsoft had to remove it for anti-trust reasons I believe. It's been replaced with Windows Live Mail. I use that for email in both Vista and W7 and I've got no complaints.

I use Windows Live Mail but it has this annoying habit of not actually closing down the process when I exit. So when I start it up again it is running 2 instances and just fails to run. Have to end the process from the task manager to fix it. VERY annoying and it happens on 3 computers in the house.

I also googled it and I'm not the only one

does thunderbird work on win7?

edit: ah what am i talking about i have been using thunderbird on win7 for the last month now lol. any way thats what i'd use as it's nice a simple with the addition of many add-ons which really can make your life much easier.
