Outlook express sending multiple copies of e-mails

My friends copy of Outlook express is acting up as everytime he sends a copy of an e-mail around 50 - 160 arrive on the receipients e-mail client. Could it be a virus or some other issue?

I actually think it could be his antivirus causing the issue
