outlook mailbox full? help?

hi - i am at work and have had a message come up on a colleagues screen saying that his mailbox is full

i have checked the usage on the server and he has everything unrestricted [basically as much space for his mailbox as he wants]

outlook wont let him send/recieve until he tidies it up which he cant do as all his mails are archived.

any suggestions [i dont normally deal with the email server but the guy who does is off for a week]
 
im in AD now and cant see a limit under the exchange general tab>storage limits and both boxes are unticked?

does this look right?
 
its way below that
not even 1gb

thats why im stumped

tried compressing some of the files

to no avail
 
i think i cracked it - turns out his mailbox usage was not the same on the server as it was locally
