Hi hope this is the correct place. Friends have a dial up account with Orange and use outlook. They have spoke with Orange techsupport and Oranegn have run through their account setting and all are correct.
The problem is that Outlook fails to send and receive, I've tried the test message facility and it logs on to outgoing server, but fails to send test message and fails to login in to the e-mail server. They can see message through the webmail.
Orange have advised speaking with Microsoft
who want £49 to say hello I think. AV is Norton 2005 or 2006.
I'm on NTL, but I've run through all the settings I can think of (and remember) in Outlook and all seems OK.
Please can anyone suggest things - is their a hidden cache or something which needs clearing out, if the test e-mail settings fails is this an orange e-mail server issue?
Having changed the pop and smtp setting from pop.wanadoo.co.uk and smtp.wanadoo.co.uk to pop.orangehome.co.uk and smtp.orangehome.co.uk on the advice of Orange Tech Support, clicking send/receive now triggers a password dialogue box to appear - all the details are fillled in and are correct, but the remember password is unchecked - clicking this fails to remember the passowrd and the password dialogue box pops up every 10 seconds or so.
It makes no real difference whether the dial up connection is made as a request through outlook or by clicking IE or the 'connect to' route.
I am at a loss now, I still thing it's an Orange e-mail server configuration issue, but obviously can't talk direct with Orange as not myn account. I need something solid or setting to 'prove' or highlight the issue.
Thanks in advance.
