Why do some people insist on using them? Do they have any function at all or is it just polite to send a read receipt if you receive one from someone?

I alway just press no as they are so annoying

How would I send an email to someone that tells me when they have read it? So a read receipt where they have to say yes to be able to open the message and see who its from

I know a delivery receipt can be used, but this only guarantees it has reached their mailbox, not that they have read it or even have a mail client open

Am I reading this correctly ?
You always say "no" to other peoples request for a receipt, but you want to force them to respond to yours ?
Sorry If I misunderstand.

That's exactly how I have just read it...

If you hate them so much why are you asking how to use them on others?

Read receipts are the tool of the devil. They are almost as annoying as those people who text you, then call you 2 seconds later asking if you have read their text messag yet.
