Hi peoples.

Just been given a mates pc to do a few fixes on nad he has outlook on an old hard drive that is detectable and usable asa second HDD, but wont boot ( and to be honest i cant be bothered playing with it) I need all the address books and Emails from Outlook that are on the old HDD, i know the location but they are DBX files. Does anyone know an easy and free way of getting them onto the new HDD to workj with Outlook.

I never use outlook and now remember why

Sounds like he used Outlook Express rather than Outlook

If so copy the files onto the new machine and you should then be able to load them with Outlook Express, this link seems to describe the process for restoring .dbx files into OE: http://email.about.com/cs/oetipstricks/qt/et110402.htm, assuming they work with Outlook Express you can then just go into Outlook --> File Menu --> Import/Export --> Import data directly from Outlook Express --> Profit???

p.s Outlook is great when you know how to use it, Outlook Express is a bit suck though

Might be worth checking with the user whether they want to use OE or Outlook
