Outlook search broken

When I installed Vista, I installed Outlook, then Nero 7 Ultra. Before I installed Nero, Outlook worked fine, but after installing it, search no longer works. No matter what I search for, no messages are found, even if I know the messages are there. I've tried uninstalling Nero but the problem's still there. After searching for hours I can't find a fix for this problem, and I really don't want to reinstall Vista.

Searching for contacts in outlook started to return nothing some time ago.

I rebuilt the index in Vista (control panel, indexing options) and all returned to normal (after a long time indexing).
