Ok - I've scoured google and it only produces those 'expert sites' (which cost?!) or rubbish answers.

Basically, my university email doesn't allow sending of email through outlook, but it does allow receipt. On campus (I believed) I should be able to send email but it appears I can only send using their machines ie. their relay.

So, the problem here is my tutor has been emailing me and I've happily been allowing outlook to send them but obviously it cannot. So, any idea how I can cancel them? It's annoying my send/receive and also times out and they will not go.

Like I said google sucks for answers, so hopefully you guys can help?

When I say them, I mean the ones already trying to send, not future ones. I know how to cancel those.

Not in the outbox buddy. Thought of that sadly, all the questions on google seem to be asking the same thing, with no straight answers, not even from Microsoft :(

Not sure if I fully understand the problem, are you trying to stop read receipts being sent when requested by an incoming email? If so this should do the trick:

  1. On the Tools menu, click Options.
  2. On the Preferences tab, click E-mail Options.
  3. Click Tracking Options.
  4. Click one of the following:
    • Always send a response Send a read receipt whenever one is requested.
    • Never send a response Deny a read receipt whenever one is requested.
    • Ask me before sending a response Be notified when a read receipt is requested.
NB: I took this from Office 2007 Help. The process may be slightly different for older versions.

Thanks for your post Hangtime. I already read about that, I'm talking about a read receipt I've already clicked yes to, but my university email doesn't allow me to send emails through their relay from outlook (only when logged in directly using a uni machine or by using OWA). So the send receipts just stay in my outlook tasks and time out. I cannot cancel them from the outbox because read receipts aren't stored in the outbox.
