Recently reformatted my pc and it appears that I am no longer able to receive emails. I can send them out no problem and "test" mails from outlook are received on the web-mail page, but it cannot receive emails.

I have also installed Mozilla Thunderbird to check that it is not down to Outlook but the problem still persists. The error it gives is that "There are no new messages on the server", which I know is not correct as I can see them on webmail.

Is there an issue with my mail server not releasing emails - or is it possible/a common problem that there is a port that could be blocked on my router? All I did was export my .pst file and re-import it on the new install.

Using XPPro if that's of any help & MS Office 2003. Never had the problem before :(

Anyone had the problem before?

Yep - pop3 server settings are correct, can send myself an email and read it via webmail, but just can't download it into Outlook etc.

Jesus - I could kick myself. Cheers d.chatten & shocking, you made me double check my settings - pop3 is nildram.co.uk and not gotadsl.co.uk (it's a nildram querk) ;)
