Hi, Ive just purchased a nice Sony KDL-40V2000 LCDTV and was wanting to connect it to my X1800XT via the HDMI socket. I know this will allow me to view video through the LCDTV but is there a way of connecting my X-FI sound card to the X1800 so I get sound through the HDMI connector too?
I will be also connecting my sound card to my av receiver but just wandered whether it's possible to just get sound through the tv via the hdmi socket only without having to have my av receiver on all of the time?

Anyone got any ideas ;)

Surely your X1800XT has DVI's interfaces not HDMI?
Other than the connector, sound and some bandwidth whats the difference?

To the OP. Nope no way (not that I've seen) of getting sound into the HDMI from the X1800. There are a few newer cards with HDMI outputs with SPDIF pass through.

Agreed, that would be the only way, maybe somebody does an HDMI lead with an co-axial breakout for SPDIF but I'm not sure such a beast exists.
