Outraged Torchlight Maker Calls Out Blatant Ripoff Sold on—Where Else—iPhone App Store

That is so bad! How on earth did they think that they could get away with it.

I seem to remember a game a few years back which essentially used oblivion screenshots as the backgrounds for a rubbish point and click game...but this seems to be on another level entirely!

Hope they get taken to the cleaners.

had a quick scim read , sounds like they outsourced the assets from china where thieft is common for game assets

This happens all the time with Chinese game development.

We spotted one that had nicked art assets wholesale from EVE the other month.

Not just games, but everything. Look at their cars. They simply don't recognize these international standards and do what they want. That leaves two options. Allow them to do it, or limit that app to the Chinese market only on the app store.

This. The problem is people still buy and import the products. All such products should be outlawed, the Chinese would soon fall in line.

Happens all the time unfortunatly.

I used to be heavily into game modding (quake 3, etc.) and frequented many forums/did support channels, etc. for it and the number of times you'd see people blatantly ripping off someone elses assets and not seeing there was anything bad to it was frustrating.

They really don't even try to hide it, lots of torchlight content in there + the Tier 10 Warlock armor from WoW.

But on the other hand, thats a pretty epic looking iphone game.

At least (if and) when they develop something cool the rest of the world can nick it with a clear conscience :D
