OutRun 2006

Does anyone know when this is being released? Gamestracker and various sites like gameplay all say 31st March for all platforms, yet the official site says 25th April for Xbox, PSP and PS2, and 5th May for PC.

I'm not sure if anyone here is interested in this game but I was planning to buy it, so I'd like to know whether I should be placing a pre-order yet, or what.

Gameplay are usually spot on with their release dates, especially this close to the launch of a game. It is a bit odd that the official site has a different date

I have emailed gameplay to ask them why there is a discrepancy between their date and the official website's

Same here, I was 13 or 14 when I first saw it

The graphics were jaw dropping at the time. OutRun 2 makes it look like a dinosaur of course!

always used to play outrun in the arcades in benidorm, highlight of the holidays there lol how sad.
WIsh outrun 2 was 360 compatible

I was in game earlier today and they had outrun 2006 on the shelves on a 1st to play and release date was 31st

Well I've ordered it from gameplay anyway - we'll know this time next week which date is correct!

According to the Sega Europe website, it is 31st March..

Metacritic's website says 25th April as well, incidentally.. although they do have one review score (80%) by games(TM) whoever they are..

FWIW the game is being released later in the US than in Europe, for some odd reason. It was indeed released on 31st March in the UK as I now have the Xbox version.

If anyone is interested, the graphics are not up to the standards of OutRun 2 on the Xbox - they are noticeably more jaggy and particularly shimmery, which leads me to suspect it may in fact be a port of the PS2 version

Seeing as the Xbox version was announced late in the day, maybe it was treated almost as an afterthought.

The game is fun, probably more fun in single player than OutRun 2 was, with a more forgiving career mode, but the graphics while still very good do take the gloss off it somewhat.

Outrun 2006 contains all the tracks from Outrun 2 plus a new set (which basically look near enough as the same style as Outrun 2), New challenges in the challenge modes but basically same thing repeated. To me looks graphically the same as Outrun 2 on xbox.

If you liked the 1st on xbox this is just more of the same,

would have been nice to see a high res 360 version
