So I have my newly built pc - i am typing away happily on to you right as you read this.

I have decided to do a bit of overclocking, unlinked the memory whatchamacallit and put in a a multiplier of 9 x 350 giving my duo6600 (2.4) a healthy 3.06 ghz mark. I did get it higher by simply plugging in a higher multiplyer value - 3.33 ghz this morning, but then I read on here that you need some decent cooling beyond 3,2 so I brought it back down.

Now with the core temp software I am getting readings of 25 degrees and 29 degress presumably for each respective core.

I was wondering whether thats a combined temperature, because some readings went up to 40 and 50 - so that would equal 90 degrees!? thats super hot!

I have left the cpu voltages at auto and i think its something like 1.35 or something like that, but to get higher that 3.33 ghz do I have to change the cpu voltage as well as all the other voltages like for the memory etc? Or is it primarily about cpu voltage when overclocking,

sorry if this is super basic and Thanks!

No the temps are just for each, you don't combine them, 40-50 degrees is still cool enough and has some room left for clocking, although the 2 temps shouldn't be that far apart. Looks like your heatsink may not be seated properly, the temps should be within 3 or 4 degrees of each other if you have it set up right.

Maybe I need to tighten the fan down harder. Its hard to judge what pressure to "screw" it to...Is there some way of knowing, btw its a coolermaster cheap thing.

I will bump it up to 3.3 and take the temps....

Thing is I am using auto volts and just playing with the multiplier 9 x 370 or something like that. Do i need to manually set all of those volts to be on the safe side?

Are you testing this using Prime95 or Intel Burn Test? They're stress testing programs, put your CPU under full load to see if its a stable overclock, if not it will report errors. I suggest Intel Burn Test, will find any errors much faster :) Plus it will give you load temps, see what the highest is your chip will get too... though it will probably only ever get that high using IBT haha

Thats a handy little site you got there! i have put my cpu to 3.33 and my temps are ranging as follows...28/32........27/31 not as much as I remembered. I think my pasting (!) might be ok afterall. But do you want to get it on your hands because after I built my computer I had like this weird line down my hands like its been sliced, but I was nowhere near a blade...EDIT tomorrow i will download some proper programs to test it.....but do you think that a 2.4 to 3.3 oc is ok with a cheapish fan?
