Finally got the OH to agree to letting the range go and will be looking at a built in oven and a seperate hob.

Not overly bothered by steam cook, air fry and the like, but the place I wish to install has a Samsung microwave on one shelf, that'll make installation a bit of a pig and noticed that some of these ovens have a combination of oven & microwave...Possible solution appears.

For those that own one, is there anything we should look out for, avoid or pay a little more because...

Budget is set around £600ish for the oven.

Cheers.

What space do you have? I have a single Samsung oven with a removable inner divider (so effectively a double oven but can be a large single).

Then I have a Samsung microwave above it. Annoyingly, despite the cost for the micro, it is literally just a microwave. Fail on my part.

That fills a single oven spot + 450mm height iirc. A double may be up to 900 total height.

Otherwise you'll end up having to use filler bits etc

Combination built in ovens with microwave function are frustratingly expensive. The two Neff single height ones that we’ve had have been pretty decent for cooking (proper fan ovens), but the first one we had developed a fault which couldn’t be repaired. Of course it was outside of the warranty period…

Stand alone ones are cheaper, but I get the impression that the oven functions are a bit of an afterthought on a lot of them.

Most of the budget brands do built in combi ovens for reasonable money.
Panasonic make the best stand alone ones but don't know if they do a built.in, think they used to.

Avoid any that have a circular plate in. You want one that you leave the metal rack in for everything. Most are like this but a few I've seen aren't.

Of the three built in oven sizes

450mm high - Compact ovens, there are tons of combi oven/microwaves
600mm high - Nomal Single oven, hardly any options, but there are one or two
900mm high - Double oven, only ever saw one example with the top oven being a combi with microwave, but that isn't available anymore.

So best bet is a 450mm compact oven combi..

e.g. https://markselectrical.co.uk/nq5b5...7Zw9P-pU_XQUTYOShSYaAhx7EALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds

It literally tries to do everything, normal oven, air fry, steam, microwave etc.. for £600 on offer.

Here's the samsung product page:

Got a link to this big ass Samsung? Sounds pretty useful.

As some have mentioned. Adding a microwave seems to add a lot of cost to a basic oven, they're also (usually) smaller than a regular oven. You got another room where you could stick the microwave such as in a utility? I think that's our plan for the new house as it's used so rarely.

NV7B44205AS Series 4 Smart Oven with Dual Cook is the oven
NQ5B4513GBS is the microwave.

The microwave is great as micro, just disappointing it isn't a combi microwave given how big it is.

Nice one. Think we've just going with a standalone microwave elsewhere. I can probably count on one hand the number of times we've used it since we've been in this house, and it's usually just been heating milk for coffee/hot chocolate!

Oven looks ideal, although i then shifter to the series 5 which has an air fryer which my wife is currently wanting.

We have one of these, a full sized oven with microwave built in.

In hindsight, I wish we had separates due to often needing to microwave something soon after the oven has been used - residual heat left in the oven from roasting/baking makes the dish which the food you're trying to microwave unusably hot.

Haha ironically that's why I went integrated. Just didn't want to waste worktop space with an appliance that gets mucky etc.

The air fryer stuff I'm still not sure why it's different to a fan oven but there we go :D

Haha the microwave will be in the utility room in ours. That's where it is in this current rental and it works well. Means you can just get a cheap one for £50 because you don't care about the design etc, and you're not spending £800 like i did on our old Smeg Combi oven where the microwave seemed to love only heating the bowl and never the contents!

Me neither on an air fryer. Although i like the idea of better fried chicken than i manage in a regular oven!

Another issue would be whether the 2 linked the inbuilts (samsung doesn't mention it) are invertor technology,
or compromised w/o (I remember trying to cook breakfast porridge in a works non one)

I've not had a flatbed either , so does the magnatron really cover all the angles - despite the convenience

We replaced our all singing and dancing combination oven (which blew up) with a single oven (upper and lower compartments with a divider) and put a basic microwave above it. All integrated.

We have a large Ninja air-fryer that takes up space on the worktop, but it has superseded the oven for most things. We generally now use only the Air Fryer and microwave unless cooking for a get-together.

I would definitely recommend the inverter technology though, we don't have that on our oven and I feel it would make the cooking more consistent.

We have a Lamona all in one single oven 450mm above our main double oven. The Lamona is a cheaper brand you can get when you get a Howden's kitchen as I understand it.

It doesn't get as hot when using it as an oven, as our main Neff double oven. It grills quite well. The microwave function is the one where it uses the flat bed without a turntable, as obviously it has racks for when using as an oven as well. We've always found the Microwave very weak even on full power, and it doesn't cook the food evenly, or sometimes at all. It might just be on the way out. I think the old skool Microwaves which are dedicated Microwaves with a turntable are the best, but they take up space and look rubbish. I think I am going to replace our Lamona but not sure what with yet.

On another note, does anyone find they have to replace their main oven light bulb like every month? It's annoying. They seem to die sometimes within a couple of weeks of me putting one in, so I've stopped bothering for now.
