thanks, i have read that guild and i do nt understand some of the stuff in it, i think its a newbie thing more than a bad guild. there was an older one on here which makes a bit or sense but i dnt kknow if its a quad core guild

Overclocking as a whole is the same for single, dual or quad, it's just getting more for your set up than what it was made for.

All you need to do is go into the BIOS and see what options are available on some Dell's it's not possible to overclock because the FSB cannot be raised.

for a quick check on motherboard use cpu z program then check link above..

A new motherboard would help but you probably couldnt put it in you Dell case and use that powersupply as from past experience they sometimes wire them differently and can expire non Dell mobo's.

If you bought a new board youd need a new OS, new case and probaly a new PSU. Also mroe than likley a new HSF depending on the dell you have atm.

If i were you i'd just buy a cheap case and a cheap socket 775 motherboard and move all the other parts from your dell into the new case.

so would i but i just bought the new dell a month or so ago, its pretty good for what i need so far its a Q6600 duel 8800gts 2Gb crucial ballistics but i want to start all this cool overclocking and water cooling stuff

tbh, if you want the cool overclocking and watercooling stuff you shouldn't have bought a Dell. You could always sell the Dell, and built yourself a PC, tis the only way to go. Or keep the Dell as a backup. All depends how much cash you have.
