Hi well this is my first attempt of overclocking i have a athlon 64 3700+

but the problem is when i try to turn the bus up soon as i do it sais this when i reeboot

Over CPU clock Right Now!!

and keeps repeating to reeboot

i have a Gigabyte K8N Sli motherboard and i have seen seen on other fourms ppl having the same problem with Similar Gigabyte boards but no answer to solve the problem.

Has anyone else ever had this problem and have you fixed it? thankyou

From what it seems from some research is that it is becuase i can not lock my pci bus at its normal speed stupid gigabyte need sort there bios out any other way of locking it or am i going have to overclock from windows :(

I had this problem when I overclocked my brothers k8nxp sli. The 'Over CPU clock Right Now!!' bit is normal and IS shown when you have a stable overclock during POSTing before windows boots. The reason it keeps rebooting is because it is NOT a stable overclock. I suggest going right back to square 1 and finding your rigs max HTT by underclocking the cpu and ram, then find your max cpu freq, then max ram overclock to try and establish your weakest link. Make sure you have the most up to date BIOS installed and I think that there are extra options in there but you have to press ctrl & F1 (?i think)

Thanx m8 will check it out but im gona get some better ram next week so i think im just test it overclocked in windows and sort it out in the bios after i have purchased new ram anyone know a good program for overclocking in windows?
Thanks

I have the same motherboard as you with an XP3800 X2 in it, can't get over 2.2GHz. I've tried all the things mentioned and have come to the conclusion that it is probably the passive chipset cooling as it is running at around 70C, a fan blowing over it could well help.

One thing that worked marginally for me was to change the PCI-E speed to 101 (I think it was that one, I'll check tonight). This allowed me an extra 100MHz...
