Hi guys.

I have a i7 920, running stock, was running at 3.6 Ghz some time ago, but started having issues. I have a Antec 300 case with a Akasa Nero and want to revisit overclocking it. I've had the machine for about 5 years now.

On std clocks it's reaching 79c which seems warm to me with RealTemp on Prime95.

I'm thinking do need a new heatsink been looking at the following, or just a reseating do the trick.

Corsair h100 refurb or the thermalright silver arrow SB-E

Any recommendations?

Like the look of the H100 tho.

Thanks :)

Just resat my Alpenföhn K2 Mount Doom with IC Diamond 24-Carat Thermal Compound dropped about 10c from normal temps average 44c on 4.4ghz.

Many thanks for the tip, unfortunately I broke the a clip on my Akasa nero while trying to fit is back to the board! :(

So I am back in the hunt for a new Cooler....

I am running an Antec 300 case, so need to think about size what are your thoughts on the following or other recommendations... I'd be happy to get it back to 3.6-3.8 Ghz

Corsair h100 refurb or the
Thermalright silver arrow SB-E which seems to have good reviews.

Thanks:D

After some brief research I don't think the h100 would work for me in the 300.

Just back to a good Air cooler that will fit in the Antec 300 case. Budget is up to around 60.

Thanks
