Ey up fellas,

Now that I'm happy I have a fully stable Sapphire reference 290, it's time to install the EK water block. What should I be looking at for a decent 24/7 over clock? Also which software should I be using?

Just FYI I'm not an extreme overclocker but would like a 'comfortable' overclock not anything extreme!!.

Any point over locking the memory? It's got Hynix chips but I didn't think it would give me much gain pushing the memory for a2fps gain lol

Core clock, memory and voltage settings would be great. What sort of temps should I be looking out for also?

Well, overclocking is only required if your not getting the fps you need in the game your playing (in my opinion).

I don't run an overclock for normal gaming on my watercooled ref 290, i only overclock to benchmark.

edit:

For reference i run 1200/1400 with +50% +150mv (could probably drop the voltage a bit), runs 50-55 (less if i have it sat on my desk).

For 24/7 just see what you can get out of stock volts, you should manage 1100/1350 or something, although i find clocking the memory isn't that beneficial so i normally just bump the core if i feel i need to.

Benching just keep upping it until it craps out :) i've managed a bench at 1250/1550 but it won't run at those frequencies in all benches, i find 1225/1450 is the sweetspot, i get diminishing returns on scores if i push the memory past that.

A comfortable overclock would probably be 1100/1300. If you fancied something a bit more adventurous then id go with 1150/1400. A solid overclock would be 1200/1400, or even 1500 if the memory will overclock that far.

nice one fellas - whats the top temps before these babies start throttling? and I assume its afterburner for optimal overclocking yeah?

stock clocks 947/1250- unigine heaven 4 returned 1601 on extreme preset setting - gpu idles at 36Degrees C and under full load hits 43Degrees C - that about right?

That's without me touching anything and using 13.12 drivers. Should I be using the latest beta ones?

Also what's the switch on the gpu for, please anyone? - Is it just dual bios or is there like an uber/quiet mode I've been reading about. ta.

Just use the 13.12 drivers. Mantle doesnt really matter with your setup anyways. Dont think about the bios switches, its just stupid really. Trixx will over-ride everything anyways.
