Hi i am 15 and I Have Recently Overclocked My CPU taking little steps at a time my PC was running fine until it kept getting frozen on the start menu so i reset my BIOS (pulled battery out and put back in) loaded up my pc then tried overclocking again once more taking little steps at a time and it worked fine so i was happy then today the first time i turn it from overclocking (at this point i was 1.98ghz) and didn't want to go up anymore at the minute so i was playing Battlefield2142 all of a sudden the Computer Stop and restarted its self. I know i havnt got the best of motherboards and i think thats the problem im quite sure you would agree with me. Anyway as soon as it restarted its self i went into the BIOS and changed it back to the normal CPU clock which is 266 on my FSB. And from now on i havnt had a problem but i am keen to overclock could anyone help me with this i have also had a couple of Blue Screens on startup i will be very grateful for your help
I have also read the Beginners Guide to overclocking from Jokester
Thanks Ross

I Think it may be my RAM which needs to be overclocked or the voltage changed please could someone reply thanks Ross1308

Ross change your sig to no more than 4 lines :)

Then change your RAM timings to 5-5-5-15 and see if that helps.

Tho your RAM may well be holding you back if it can't do ~300mhz after testing.

What do you mean by this
I will try to be as more specific as possible.

"No good brand name."
Good RAM modules for example are Kingston, OCZ, Corsair etc....
Nanya is not a good company IMHO it produces budget products.
Similarly compare FIAT vs Mercedes. :D

and overclockable.
You won't increase your RAM FSB high.
The good RAM modules achieve high FSBs.
