Hi all

eventually had my overclockers bundle back this week , been working a treat ...very stable ...so have been very happy with it till tonight .!!

All was working well , then pc had an issue with a file being transfered to a memory stick ...well explorer crashed so had to shutdown ...took a while to shutdown but it did .
When it restarted ..it started ...then stopped ...then started...then stopped ..then started up properly ( this happened on last board ) ....windows boots but all the overclock settings in the bios have gone so its now back to stock 2.66 .
This is twice this has happened ...2 different boards (same make )
Has anyone else had this ?

Have not pressed the reset button on the back to clear cmos if anyone wants to know .

This pc is now becoming a pain in the a..e !! never had one bit of trouble with my P4 setup ....spent near on £1600 on a pc that keeps loosing bios settings !! lol not good

Any help most appreciated
karl

Usualy that means the overclock is unstable and the board reverts back to default, has the overclock been saved in one of the BIOS profiles?
If not then a call to Overclockers might be in ordeor post in the customer forum.

yes have contacted overclockers on the customer service thread ...have to wait and see what happens .. how do you check if been saved in BIOS profile ?
cheers

right looked in bios ....used the press F12 to load cmos from bios ...and presto !! the settings had been saved ...so now back up and running .
Buess there still must be something up with the overclock if it looses the settings ? or should i see how it goes ?
cheers

This is the exact problem i have on first boot each day, 3 quick restarts and overclock fail, seems to be a problem with the board. I believe rjkoneill has been in touch with Gigabyte about this issue.

ow right ....maybe a bios update needed or something ? well settings have not gone since and now know how to put them back in :)

The profile is in the bios in the f12 menu
I can't understand how this has happened
The bundle did 12 hours of prime then 6 hours of linpack before it was shipped back to you

Primes a good test but tbh you never know how something is untill you have it in your own house and have run it good and proper over 2-3 weeks.

Proberly best to let ocuk support look into it again, perhaps another mobo can be tried ?

I would love to jump all over the core i7 bundle but feel perhaps a different mobo or even a core i7 950 @ 4ghz bundle maybe more relaxed/stable/better temps/cooler for long term home use.

As it stands this is the no1 reason why ive never overclocked in my life I prefer silence/stability over anything else but at the sametime I know ive missed out ;)

i know what you mean , but this is the second bundle i have had , Rich at overclockers said he has had it running on prime for 12 hours plus done 5 hour lintest or something like that before this bundle was shipped ....been fine all week till bios setting went last night ...maybe a coincidence .
I have been altering a few things over last few hours , been trying intel burn to see how that goes .
Failed few times but found if i higher the cpu voltage from what it was set at by rich ( 1.28 or something ) upto 1.30v it seems to run fine at mo ...intel burn does 10 tests without fault ....but if you run test again straight after in fails .
wonder if this is norm ....if turn pc off the try test again after reboot it always passes first time .
prime has no problem at all now

very weird, but i think tbh if u can run intel burn test for 8hrs or prime overnight without issue thats beyond good enuff usage ;) gotta remember most of the time we rarely tax out our systems....

if its good for what your using it for thats usualy good enough :)

well it seems to run my games fine ....so guess i should not worry too much about it then ...
if it kept crashing then i would worry ...but had no problems since upping the voltage .
I did try resetting bios to what overclockers had set it too ( voltage was only difference ) and it crash the system on the 3rd test of intel burn ( blue screen of death ) ....soon as i upped the voltage the test run without a problem

thats what i thought , seems fine now anyway ..since upped voltage ...so going to leave well alone lol
If it was crashing all the time then would worry but its not ..
cheers

update ...just reset bios to standard ...done a intel burn test on maximum ...8 threads , 5 tests ...its fails at end of second test every time ...reboot and still does it ....
guess this should not happen on standard bios settings ?
if run on high instead of max then it passes , very high fails too .
