Overclock 6870

Evening,

As the title would suggest is there an easy way to overclock this gpu?

I've tried using a couple of software program's inc trixx and it didn't work, even tried to up the voltage with said program's but it seems locked even when I tick the unlock box.

At the momment I'm just using CCC that comes with radeon card and I've only made a very same gain at core 960 from 900 and memory at 1150 from 1050.

I've heard you could flash the bios but i wouldnt know where to start unless I got a step by step guide, if this is the best I will get then I might see if the shop will let me swap it up and pay a little extra as I only got it a few days b4 Xmas.

I would rather keep this tho as its mither getting to the shop or I could get another same card and crossfire, if so would that be better then the 6950 I been looking at?

Thanks in advance for any help as I'm a noob when it comes to GPU, not to bad on CPU tho as I've done a successful stable 4.3 o/c on my 920 with 12gig ram.

Saw a post the other day saying that CCC may conflict with Afterburner or Kombustor (or however its spelled could be the same with Trixx, try disabling CCC.

I didn't think the 6870 had all that much headroom TBH though 1020-1050 is your max range with 1.3v

Crossfired 6870s will demolish a single 6950 but you do gain an additional 1gb of VRAM with the 6950 so 2gb total as opposed to the 1gb effective of the crossfire setup.
