Hi all

Just chatting with a friend, and we were wondering if it's actually possible to overclock the original xbox?

Anyone got any links? :p

Thanks

i dare say it would be possible, if a bit pointless :p
and i dont think u will get any links as they will probably talk about naughty stuff

It is do-able, but requires heavy modification, a bit of money, and is pointless for gaming as it would ruin the speed at which the game works.
As Davey has said, information is only available from supect sites.

It's possible, I've seen it mentioned in an Xbox magazine back in the day, but it's rather pointless as it doesn't really do anything.

I remember reading a post where someone added more memory to an Xbox. Think it was over at Xbox Scene Forums? Dunno if they'd have anything on overclocking though?

Thing is why would you want to overclock what is basically a 733mhz celeron anyway?! It won't make it any faster :p

IIRC you can actually buy original xbox's with upgraded processors and graphics ram. I can't remember where I have seen them now but it would most likely be a banned link anyway.

I remember there were modded units floating around with replaced CPUs. There was a switch to flip between 733Mhz and 1.4Ghz. It made a difference in some games but went all dodgy in most others. It was a long time ago though.. a googling now showed nothing.
