Hi, i've got myself an old P4 3.00GHz HT to have a play around with so i don't mess up my other computer.

So far i have upped the FSB and it's running at 3.23Ghz, tested with Prime95 and i had ThrottleWatch running aswell which showed 0% all the time.

I haven't gone any further because i'm a bit concerned about the temperature shown for 'PWM' in Abits uGuru software. It's showing 79/80c!

Just need advice on what 'PWM' is and how i can go about getting that temperature down.

Thats fair enough, i was only having a play anyway.

Yes it is still running the stock cooler, i will have to look closer at the motherboard and and see if i can see how i can better cool these 'pwm's'

One thing i noticed is the temperatures from stock and overclocked didn't really vary much, but the fans did get louder! Maybe if i tinker with the way the BIOS deals with fan speeds i might get it cooler?

I did record the readings with 3dMark06, with the 3.2GHz overclock i managed an extra 30 points.......i'm guessing this isn't any difference at all?

Another question is this computer has got a 7600GT AGP card fitted....the stock cooler on this started making a racket so i replaced it with a Zalman copper cooler which also came with small heatsinks for the ram chips, how do i go about toying with that? Is there a guide on the forum somewhere for OC'ing a graphics card.

Thank for all your help.

Ash.

Seriously, the machine has so many bottlenecks for modern games and the like, overclocking it will not gain you anything of real worth...

I spent hours and hundreds of pounds trying to eak out my 3ghz P4...

I understand your point and i fully agree, this is just a machine i was playing with....i'm not really going to benefit from any gains on it.

It's just an experiment if you like...something of little value to 'learn' on.
