overclock bundle

Hey guys,

I am looking to update my system which I built several years ago now and have barely updated apart from the hard drive.

I have taken a fancy to the

groupid=43&catid=339&subcat=1803 bundles as these are the components I think I need to boost the speed. I got a few questions.

I currently have a antec 900 gaming case and a 560w silverstone ST56F psu. Will this be enough power to run the bundle without any drama? Also would you recommend me upgrading to 64bit windows 7 as I am running on 32bit windows 7 at the moment, or will that not make much difference?

currently running on;

2x1gb corsairtwin XMS2
intel core 2 duo e6320 1.86ghz
and a radeon 1950xt

Will it be worth me putting in the RAM i already have? and also would the onboard graphics be suffient or should I stick with my current GFX card?

I don't think your ram will work with those bundles ddr2 vs ddr3 I think. And 64 bit windows is worth it when you have over I think 3 or 4 gb of ram so I wuldnt shell out if you need to buy it unless you'll be using a lot of ram. Hope I helped!

what do u mainly do on your pc ?

pretty sure ur old ram will be DDR2, so it wont be compatable with those bundles

if your main aim is for gaming, then i think a GPU upgrade instead would be your better option, ideally, it'll be best to upgrade both, but core2duo aint all that bad for most games really, 2gb is alittle small for some of the newer games thou

um.. just general PC use really. im just looking for something a lot quicker to play blu ray movies, generally run simulations etc quickly and maybe the occasional game... but I havent found a game that I am hoooked on at the moment so im not really into the gaming at present. Im doing an IT course in Uni so im gonna be running simulations, making websites, photoshop and maybe some video editting in the future.

and yeah the old RAM is DDR2 so I wont be able to use that.

Ill take a look at that package.. cheers. Problem is im not comfortable with the overclock as I dont have the experience and don't know anyone that could help me. I am thinking it would be better to get a quad core, saves me updating at a later date I suppose.

Thanks for the info Nath. Unfortunatly I have a cheap student copy of the windows 32bit and don't think I can get another copy through the student system! Bit gutting but might be able to get around that, I will certainly pick up the upgrade.

I am keen on the overclock like I said before because I have no experience with doing it myself. But the thing is it's only a few more quid to get the i5... seems like I might aswell? Or like you said, there isnt too much of a difference I will notice?
