Overclock degradation

Does anyone else find their overclock degrades over time?

I initially only had to up the voltage to my CPU by 1 notch (can't remember exact voltage). This was then 100% stable with over 12 hours of prime and various other stability programs. After about a year I had to up the voltage to a 2nd notch for it to be fully stable and yesterday (almost 3 years on) I had to up it by another notch because I was getting the odd blue screen when under load. This is just to keep my overclock stable, I haven't changed anything. :confused:

Could be anything really, may just be PSU slowly loosing stability/efficiency.

Doubt it's the PSU, all the voltages seem normal.
Its a Cooler Master Silent Pro 1000 Watt modular. Bought it approx 2 years ago when I setup SLI and water cooling.

Just wondering if anyone else had noticed this sort of behaviour with their overclocks?

It can be any component, usually the ones that get hottest. CPU, RAM, Mobo, take your pick.

I had a similar issue with a i7 920 @4ghz, was 100% stable for 2 years, never had any problems. Last August started geting BSOD every now and again, which i could only solve by bringing the oc down to 3.8ghz, all fine again.
Then a month ago i got some cheap Corsair Xms3 2000mhz memory replacing Patriot 1600mhz. Tried the chip again and it was back up to 4ghz with the same old bios settings.
I know x58 chipsets had problems with the memory controller and oc but i was 100% sure it was the oc cpu failing weird.
Since then i got another i7 920 which oc to 4.5ghz, so it had to be the memory.

I have Patriot Viper but am running a divider so it is slightly slower then the 1600mhz speed. My BLK is at 191 with the multiplier at 21. I found this more stable then 200 with the multiplier at 20.
