My overclock has been stable for the best part of a year with very reasonable temps and an actic freezer pro keeping it cool. I turn on my PC tonight and displayed is that my OC has failed...

How do i go about working out why its failed. The system has reverted back to default settings ...

Asus P5k lifestyle
E4500 - Was @ 2.93Ghz, now 2.2 stock
2Gig PC6400 Black Dragon - reccommended voltage and timings
500W Hiper PSU

Any ideas??

Thanks

the whole system is 14 montha old, no new hardware but i do have 4 gig f RAM coming tomorrow :)

System has a little bit of dut but not loads, ill have another look

Yeah, i do just use the power button and then flick the switch on the PSU itself but dont unplug from the mains.

I'll rework the clock tomorrow after work and see how that goes. I'll post back with the results.

Thanks for your input everyone! May need more help so if you wouldnt mind keeping an eye out for me i'd appreciate it!

Magicoi.

Thanks Big Wayne,

Appreciate your help. Ill try it later on and see what happens.

Out of interest, where can you buy batteries for motherboards? Are they specific to PCs or can you get them from hardware / electrical shops?

Bizzare - i come home tonight, flich the switch and everything boots as it should, overclock intact!

Id built myself up all day abouth having to di it again as well!

Fingers crossed it will last. Getting an e8400 in the next few weeks hopefully so ill look forward to that now instead!

Thanks for your help and suggestions guys :)
