Last October I bought this full system from Overclockers:-

"Ultima H²OC Trident" 280 Intel Core 2 Quad Xeon X3350 2.66GHz @ 3.50GHz+ Quad Core WaterCooled DDR2 System.

Problem I'm having is that it now won't boot unless the overclocks in the BIOS are switched off.

So my settings are at default and running at 2.6GHz

As it was a full system I bought, I don't have the instructions for overclocking.
Is there a way of putting the settings back up slowly?

Anyone know if this is normal behaviour for an overclocked pc? I thought it would last longer! :(

I started a thread in the tech support section.

First I was given some overclock settings. I didn't get the 'Overclock Failed' message anymore, but the pc shutdown after half an hour of playing a game.

Then I was told to check the temperatures with coretemp and realtemp while prime95 was running. Temps went up to 127 before shutdown.

I was asked to check that the pump was pumping water around. I held the tubes and could feel a slight vibration, but it doesn't feel very strong.

I was then told to reseat the cpu waterblock. The paste on the cpu was mostly around the outside and not much in the middle. I cleaned it all off and applied some new paste and put the waterblock back on.

Then the pc seemed to run quite well! I ran prime95 for a couple of hours and the temps got as high as 80 but never shutdown.

Then the next day it shutdown again. I realized that it seems to depend on whether its a warm day or not. Its the first summer that I've had the pc, I'd never tested it in warm weather before.

I'm still not sure if its a failed pump or not.

Maybe the watercooling system just isn't good enough to cool the machine!
