I just got my overclocked bundle back from OCUK (RMA) and yet the 4.0ghz profile loaded keeps freezing my system.

I haven't changed any settings on the bios and was told by the guys in support that they tested the 4ghz profile and it was fine...?

I'm really stumped at why I can't get my UD5, i7 920, patriot memory bundle to run at the rated speeds?

Please can you guys offer some assistance...

Your help is greatly appreciated!

So many variables..

1) What power supply are you using - is it decent and can it cope?

2) What case? Does it have good thermal dynamics?

3) What's the ambient in the room?

4) What thermal paste are your using?

5) What STOP message to you get (if any)?

When you say freeze, do you meen BSOD or a windows lockup?

Either way, first thing I'd do is enter the BIOS and disable the overclock. OCUK seem to like saving profiles with their overclocks on, so the overclock settings will be saved.

It could be anything from that info you posted though, dodgy program, driver issue, windows problem, heat, insufficient power etc. More info please. :p

Hi guys,

I have a corsair 800D case, enermax revolution 1250 power supply.

The temps of my case using Hardware monitor are :

CPU:28 - idle - Never higher than 71 (that's in prime 95 at 100% load) (gaming never over 35), i use a corsair H50 with two noctua fans in a push pull config. I use Artic silver thermal paste for the cpu.

I sent this bundle back as the motherboard was not working in sli, I got the new UD5 gigabyte board back, however the one card won't start up the PC it gives a colored screen just after the loading screen.

I have taken the exact same card and put it in another PC and it works fine...

I have two gigabyte 8800GT cards in sli (well they were working fine)

Please can you guys give me some advise?

I have the pc stable at 3600MHZ and will leave it at that.

Thanks for the replies, appreciate any help given!

i remember this one

the top slot on your old board was well and truely dead

we swapped it out for a new UD5

the system ran for 14 hours overnight on OCCT then we did a prime run for 4 hours before it shipped back to you. [one of the techs in my department commented on how well your chip clocked actually]

you dont happen to have a different psu to try at all do you?

short of that, im stumped

That would be my board...lol, cheers for the great service! I had sent my board to u guys and within 4 days it was back, much appreciated.:D

Other than this strange overclock scenario of mine the bundle is awesome!

I have tried my old 800watt Gigabyte Odin GT, but still with no luck. Strange as it clocks to 3.6 with hardly any effort with great temps.

Could it be the anything to do with me having sli?

I'm planning on getting two gigabyte 460's from u guys and running them in sli, I'm happy as long as it still runs at 3.6ghz.

Cheers for the responses guys...
