Hi guys & gals, first post so please be gentle:D

I have just received an EVGA GTX570 Superclocked that's going into a Sandybridge bundle soon, but until i get all the funds together, i am going to throw it in my old machine which comprises of a stock Q6600, EVGA 680i OCZ 600W ModXstream, 4Gb Dominator DDR2.

I was wondering, would a stock Q6600 be a bottleneck for the 570? and if so how much could i overclock my chip on just the stock cooler to get better results because the temps are already quite high.

I'm a complete novice when it comes to overclocking so any advice would be great.;)

Big thanks in advance:)

a simple overclock to 3ghz would be no problem but i would not do it on a stock cooler, if your on a tight budget a acrtic freezer pro can be had for under £20 and the that can handle a q6600 at 3 maybe 3.2ghz easy with a 5min fiddle in the bios

Thanks for the quick response

Ideally i wasn't looking to spend any money on a new cooler as i will get an overclocked bundle from Ocuk in the next week or two and that will have a cooler included, but if 2.4Ghz is all i can get right now i will put up with it.

I just thought i could maybe squeeze a little more out of it ....ahh well roll on payday

how about setting the fsb to 300 this will give you a 2.8ghz oc, a stock cooler should be able to handle that ok, bit if its only for a few weeks why bother
