Firstly I should say it won't be me doing the overclock as I don't know what I'm doing! It will be done at the build stage possibly by overclockers.....

I'll be getting a i7 3770k ivy bridge system and have been told a 4.5Ghz overclock will be quieter than a 4.6ghz overclock due to heat and fan speed. How much difference will the extra 0.1ghz make with my video editing? Worth the noise? Worth the extra heat? how much will I notice over the un-clocked CPU?

Advice appreciated

Wow. Really? So performance wise there's not much between sandy/ivy? Sandy overclock better?

So my specced Z77 motherboard will be fine just to transfer the sandy bridge to? Seeing as I don't intend to game I wasn't going to get a graphics card. How does the HD3000 graphics of the sandy compare to the HD4000 of the ivy?

Your advice is greatly appreciated

^^^^ temps look a bit higher now you are using coretemp......^^^^^

Anyhow, what is the general concensus about sandy bridge vs ivy bridge? I'm kinda swayed to the "newer" technology but don't want to if it could be an overclocking turkey. But I'm no serious overclocker, just want it set to a sensible 4.5/4.6 for a bit of a HD video editing boost

Cheers for your thoughts scotslad. High numbers are not my thing. A 4.5 overclock on any ivy using only built in graphics may be best for my video editing. I'll mull it over before taking the plunge
