hi
i have found out that it is possible/easy to overclock the HTC
currently i am at stock (528Mz)
I have herd that 768 is the limit
i would just like to squeeze all possible power out of my device

so i need to root first, i dont want any 'custom roms' just keep stock HTC sense and allow me to use setCPU app from the market to up to 700-750MHz

and advice or reccomendations from doing this?
never overclocked a phone before, never rooted before.
phone is only 1 month old so dont want to destroy it.....

thanks :D

I've just had a look, it seems that the limit is about 768 as you said.

You'll need to install a different ROM and kernel to overclock...however, modified Sense ROMs are available.

If you want more performance though, consider running a lighter ROM like CM7. Sense is quite bloated.

I think you'd be a lot better off with a custom rom like CM7 to improve performance rather than an overclock. You're more likely to reduce it's lifespan/battery life or even break it if you overclock.

Wouldn't say it's that bad, you shouldn't cook it by overclocking it, as they undervolt, so when overclocked, you'll be running around stock voltage anyway, maybe a tad more. However, CM7 will run nicely on the Wildfire...just replace ADW Launcher with Launcher Pro and it should be pretty damn smooth :)

They are no more difficult to root than any other Android device, I'd say. Pop over to XDA-Devlopers to get everything you need :)

"only" to 700 is a ~40% OC. You'll shorten it's life but not considerably in most cases. It's completely at your own risk.

think it was called "super one click" not sure if its on the market and thats not what i used so read about it ;)
