Hi everyone

ive never done overclocking before and ive watched few videos and read a few diffrent things so i thought id have ago.

Sinse this was my first attempt i thought id do a small overclock so all i did was set the cpu for all cores to 3.9ghz

i booted into windows sucsessfully i looked at my AI suite II to look at the settings and saw the Vcore at 1.328 then it would drop to something like 0.867 which ive seen it do before the overclock but i didnt know if the 1.328 was too high so i took screen shots and rebooted and when i got into the bios it said it was running at 1.168 i took the overclock off and booted back into windows and it was around 1.240 and went back down to 0.8 somthing im just checking that when i overclocked it that the vcore wasnt too high?

heres a screen shot of the overclock and settings that i looked at

as i said ive never done an overclock before so any help would be much apperciated thanks

There's something wrong. Look at the voltage - way too high for 1.2ghz cpu.

Hopefully, you've got speedstep sort of half active. Speedstep throttles back the cpu when not in use. It should lower the voltage too.

Google Prime95. Download and run a blend test. Whilst that's happening, take a new screen shot of the 2 apps above and post here.

Edit: voltage fluctuation is normal, speedstep is active.

yes it was 3.9 but cos i didnt have any load on it it went back down to 1.2 so yes speed step is on i didnt realise it was only at 1.2ghz wen i took screen shots not on pc now but will repost a screen shot tomorrow

but i havent changed the voltage at all all i did was change the turbo on all cores to 3.9

ok this morning i did a screen shot of intel burn test running without overclock here it is

then i did a screen shot with intel burn test running with the slight 3.9 overclock

is this voltage too high for the overclock i havent adujusted the voltage all i did was adjust the cpu overclock

I don't know tbh sorry! But, your CPU can turbo to 3.8GHz anyway!

Is the voltage on auto? If so you may be able to manually set it to a lower voltage with that overclock and still be stable. See if you can find the maximum recommended voltage for your CPU somewhere online (only on my phone, I tried to find it but no luck yet!)

yes the voltage was set to auto or what ever the voltage is at stock as i didnt change ony other settings.

and yes i know it turbos up to 3.8 i just wanted to set a very small overclock sinse it was my first try.
